So, What Does the Process Look Like?

Step One: Schedule A Consult

I offer free 15-minute consultation calls to all new clients. I’ll ask you about issues you are currently experiencing and describe my therapeutic style and modalities. If for some reason we determine that it’s not the best match, I’ll always provide referrals and resources to help you move in a different direction.

Step Two: Complete Paperwork

If we determine we are a good fit, I will send you some paperwork to review and complete. All paperwork and payment methods will be filled out electronically. You will receive a link through a secure portal called Simple Practice. I will also send you a separate email with a link for your Telehealth sessions.

Step Three: Book A Session

After paperwork is complete, we will find a time that works for both of us to schedule a 50 minute session. During our first session, we will get to know one another and I will gather some of your history in order to learn about where you have been and where you are on your journey. This will also be a great time to talk about some of your goals for therapy and ask me any initial questions you may have. Rest assured, I will never push you to share anything that you are not ready to share. I look forward to seeing you at your first session!

  • Just like your physical health, your mental health also matters. There is nothing “wrong” with you if you are seeking out therapy. Therapy can be a safe place to heal, grow, and make changes. Sometimes, people feel that something is off, but have a difficult time articulating their goals. If this sounds like you, let’s chat and find out what you are experiencing and how therapy may be able to help!

  • Everything is virtual! We’ll do an initial consultation either on the phone or online and then set up weekly appointments through a secure video platform. You’ll receive all the intake paperwork in a secure, online platform which will also process your payments. You’ll get appointment reminders and have access to all your billing info online.

  • I’m an out of network provider, which means I do not bill your insurance company directly but will provide a receipt for the sessions you paid for upon your request. You can submit this to your insurance provider for any out of network benefits you may have and they will issue a reimbursement check. I recommend contacting your insurance company before beginning therapy to find out what your out of network benefits are.

  • Therapy is work and there’s no easy, fix-it-all solution. We’ll work together to make a plan that ensures you’re getting exactly what you want out of therapy. This is your time. You can also ask yourself these questions: Am I experiencing more joy? Do I have fewer conflicts? Am I able to make decisions with greater confidence and ease? Are my symptoms decreasing?

  • That’s completely up to you! Some people thrive on accountability and targeted interventions -- if that sounds like you, great! Homework is never a requirement, nor is it something I’ll push on you if it’s not your style. Regardless, we’ll work on building up coping skills in session together, which you can practice as much as you like at home.
